The founding members are: Farsetti Arte auction house in Prato; Finarte auction house in Milan; Pandolfini auction house in Florence; Pitti auction house in Florence (now closed); Il Ponte auction house in Milan; Rubinacci auction house in Genoa; Sant'Agostino auction house in Turin.
It now includes 17 of the most important auction houses in Italy.
The association, nonpolitical and nonprofit, aims at protecting the image and development of the category, at safeguarding its interests, at developing synergic relationships among members, at harmonizing regulations in order to meet the international situation, at settling controversies with a preference for extrajudicial settlements, and at being an influential interlocutor with authorities.

On February 26, 2008, the A.N.C.A. general meeting unanimously elected as chairman Sonia Farsetti (Farsettiarte) and Pablo Carrara (Meeting Art) as vicepresident.
