CARTIER ALDO CIPULLO "LOVE" BRACELET IN 18KT YELLOW GOLD

Aldo Cipullo fu il creatore del Love bracelet di Cartier nel 1969. Un designer di gioielli italiano trapiantato in America, che nel corso della vita disegnò anche il fortunato Juste un Clou, il bracciale Cartier a forma di chiodo ricurvo. Per dare vita al Love, egli prese ispirazione dal concetto di amore totalizzante e fedele, e scelse di traslarlo su un braccialetto in argento bagnato d'oro, cui diede una forma più ovale rispetto a quella canonica, affinché restasse il più possibile attaccato al polso. Il Love di Cartier fu infatti progettato per rimanere ben chiuso addosso, grazie a un sistema di piccole viti che lo circondavano lungo tutta la superficie, e con la possibilità di essere aperto unicamente dalla persona amata, la quale, dotata di un piccolo cacciavite in oro, poteva far scattare il meccanismo "liberando" il polso. Una grande innovazione che Cipullo adottò per il braccialetto Love è stata quella di non dare un genere all'accessorio: ai tempi, indossare un gioiello che non fosse destinato a nessuno dei due sessi in particolare era una novità eccezionale. Con l'avvento di Love, Cartier fu uno dei grandi pionieri della gioielleria genderless.

A great innovation that Cipullo adopted for the Love bracelet was not giving a gender to the accessory: at the time, wearing a jewel that was not intended for either sex in particular was an exceptional novelty. With the advent of Love, Cartier was one of the great pioneers of genderless jewelry.
